 Additional Course Detail

This class is designed for students with little or no shooting experience or training, who have not shot for some time or who may be intimidated with firearms or just want a refresher training.

The “Basic Handgun Safety” class consists of about 2 hours of classroom orientation. This covers everything from basic handgun operation, ammunition types and uses. Participants practice different fundamentals of stance, grip, breathing control and techniques for quick sight acquisition. The orientation session concludes with a discussion of the laws governing firearms, and how they affect your ability to use a firearm for self-defense.

For the second session, the class travels to a shooting range for several hours of instruction and shooting their personal firearms or class available firearms and at several different target skill levels. Using live ammunition, participants review techniques they’ve learned in class at increasingly challenging target levels. The class concludes with participants using their new skills and abilities on an entertaining stress-fire shooting situation of multiple targets.

This program is a very good format and the students leave feeling better about their shooting skills and firearm knowledge.

Basic training is completed with a .22lr handgun; you are welcome to bring your personal firearm for the target training relays (100 rounds of ammunition are required and depending on caliber may be available for cost). After training and time permitting you are welcome to shoot your private firearms with your ammunition or sample shoot class firearms.
